Faculty and Staff Eco-Reps December Award Winners
At December’s Faculty and Staff Eco-Reps meeting, four Eco-Reps were honored with awards for their service and commitment to the program and to fostering sustainability at Penn.
- Rashida Holmes: Awarded “Most Creative,” Rashida joined the Eco-Reps program in July of 2018, and immediately began a partnership with 12th Street Catering, convincing them to recycle and reuse some of their materials, such as baskets, sterno cans, and wire chafing dish racks. When they ended the parternship, Rashida sought out an alternative solution, and worked with Kremp’s Florist on a successful basket handoff.
- Laura Sprague: in 2018, “Eco-Champion” Laura started a Go Green initiative at the Dental School, recruiting other Eco-Reps, securing over 250 Penn Dental-branded reusable water bottles, and working with students to establish a student sustainability group at Penn Dental Medicine. Laura was nominated three times throughout the year.
- Barbara Kountozi: Barbara was awarded “Most Dependable” for her commitment to bringing her reusable food container to more meetings than any other Eco-Rep throughout the course of 2018.
