Penn Chinese Dance Club Presents 'Transience'

Transience is a reflection on impermanence, an exploration of the fleeting wonders of the natural world. In four sections, the show explores the delicate cycle of existence—from the blossoming of flowers, to rainfall, to tidal waves. It lingers in the warmth of human connection, in laughter and joy, and follows the silent arcs of migrating birds, carried across endless skies. In each moment, beauty emerges and dissolves, reminding us that all things must pass, yet in their passing, they leave traces—echoes of movement, memory, and meaning.

The Penn Chinese Dance Club (PCDC) is a student-run non-profit dance group dedicated to practicing Classical and Folk Chinese dance. Founded in May 2006 as a self-organized group of dance lovers at the University of Pennsylvania, we have flourished into a major performing arts troupe in Philadelphia. PCDC’s mission is the enrichment and promotion of traditional Chinese arts and culture through dance exercises, instructions, and collaborations.
