On April 20, Penn Vet's One Health in Action faculty group will host our inaugural seminar by Dr. Craig Stephen, DVM, PhD, veterinary epidemiologist. As the world becomes more connected and complex, it is important to understand what choices need to be made, how best to work and how to lead society to be future-ready. One Health has been preoccupied by the tyranny of the urgent, making it hard for its practitioners to think about how to be future-ready. This risks stagnating One Health and thus reducing its social value as new threats and opportunities emerge during these unprecedented times of social and ecological change. This seminar will explore some foundational concepts of One Health training and practice to propose some conceptual shifts that may need to occur to ensure One Health remains a meaningful contributor to interspecies and intergenerational health equity.
