Throughout the week of May 18th, Penn Dining will be conducting plate waste studies at all-you-care-to-eat dining locations across campus to collect data about the causes and quantities of post-consumer food waste on campus. This will be accomplished by weighing plate waste and collecting student feedback through a simple survey. Each study will take place for 3 hours during a meal period; lunchtime studies will be held from 11am-2pm, and the dinnertime study will occur from 5:30-8:30pm. We look forward to engaging with students in conversation about food waste and its impacts and gaining insight into the causes of post-consumer food waste at Penn. Findings will be shared at the end of the week!
