In partnership with the Office of Community & Government Affairs, the Office of Social Equity and Community, Penn Sustainability is improving campus move-out days by reducing litter and providing resources for handling unwanted items, furniture drives, curbside bulk trash pick-up, donation drop-off stations, and collaboration with neighborhood groups.

Donation Options

Resurrection Philadelphia Church 401 S. 42 St. 

  • When: Fridays and Saturdays 10 AM- 2PM May 10th, 11th, 17th,  18th, 24th, 25th 
    • Donations should go to the Pine St. side of the building through the patio door
  • Wanted Donations:
    • Kitchen items – dishes, pots and pans, silverware, utensils, small appliances (smaller than a microwave), glasses & mugs, serving bowls, teapots, rice cookers, wooden spoons, and water pitchers.
    • Small Furniture items: Lamps, end tables, desk chairs and small desks, 2 or 4 person dinettes, small bookshelves, small comfy chairs
    • Household items: irons, ironing boards, heaters, fans, dehumidifiers, or humidifiers
    • Bikes
    • Clothing
    • Non-perishable foods
  • Not Accepting:
    • Paintings, TVs or computers, toys or games, mattresses, or any furniture with fabric

Curbside Furniture Drive

  • When: Saturday, May 18th
  • Where: Between 40th and 43rd, Baltimore and Chestnut
  • Penn for Refugee Empowerment and Penn are partnering with the Philadelphia Furniture Bank to donate furniture items for families across Philadelphia. To request pickup, participants must complete curbside donation form: May 18th Furniture Drive (google.com)

 

Volunteers Needed! Curbside Furniture Drive, May 18th

  • What You'll Do:
    • Walk through nearby neighborhoods, collect furniture from curbside, load items onto trucks.
  • Volunteer Perks:
    • Free volunteer T-shirt and complimentary pizza!
  • Sign Up Here: Please fill out this Google Form with your name, email, phone number, and T-shirt size. 

 

Curbside Bulk Trash Removal

  • For items that can’t be donated, Penn is providing curbside trash pick-up every Friday in May to help reduce the amount of waste and litter left behind during move-out. Please bag your unwanted items and place them neatly outside your residence for collection. 
  • Where: Between 39th to 42nd Street, Chestnut Street to Baltimore Ave.
  • When: Put bulk trash out on your curb before 10 AM on the following Fridays for free bulk trash pick-up:
    • May 3rd, 8th, 10th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, 24th
