At a Glance
Designed to improve environmental awareness and behavior change, the program builds knowledge and leadership across Penn’s schools and centers by empowering individuals to champion sustainability at Penn.
Members work within their departments and the Penn community share information and skills aimed at supporting the University’s environmental goals.
Led by Penn Sustainability, PEACE is comprised of more than 150 staff and faculty members across the University representing a diverse set of offices, schools, and centers.
PEACE Events
PEACE hosts events on a bi-monthly basis and they are always shared on the Penn Sustainability Events page, along with other interesting climate-related events. We are always looking for suggestions for new topics. If you have an idea for a new topic or have knowledge you would like to share with the group, reach out to sustainability@upenn.edu.
Past Events
- Green Office Purchasing – Reps from Office Depot and Telrose presented on green office purchasing practices at Penn and how to switch to more sustainable options.
- Green Office Certification Workshop – Penn Sustainability Office introduced the Green Office Certification program.
- Solar at Home - Partners from Solarize Philly, Penn Homeownership Services, and the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy shared resources available to Penn employees to transition their homes to solar energy.
- City of Philadelphia Zero Waste Initiatives – Staff from the City of Philadelphia present the City’s zero waste goals and strategies as well as tips for businesses and institutions to go zero-waste. View the presentation here.
- Penn Food and Wellness Collaborative – Staff joined to present on food access and food apartheid, and projects related to these issues at Penn.
- Green at Home - Penn Sustainability and Eco-reps presented ways to stay green at home. View the presentation here.
- Rain Check Workshop – Partners from the Philadelphia Water Department, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, and the Sustainable Business Network presented on the Rain Check program – a stormwater management resource for residents of Philadelphia.
