Meet our current Student Eco-Reps, and learn about their interests in sustainability and the environment.

Amanda Sweeney 

SAS '24

Amanda is a sophomore from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania studying political science and environmental studies. She loves reading, Star Wars, hiking, exercising, and environmental education. She enjoys cutting down on plastic waste and finding new plant-based recipes! 

Bianca Montañez

SAS '25

Bianca is a freshman from Puerto Rico hoping to major in Earth Science at SAS. What she enjoys the most is preparing delicious vegetarian meals, nature hikes, and going to the beach with friends. Since the devastating Hurricane María, she has been very passionate in finding innovative ways of restoring the health of our planet and bringing into perspective the importance of sustainable protocols. 

Ennie Akinwunmi

SAS '23

Ennie is a sophomore from NY with interests in Environmental Studies and Urban Studies. She is passionate about environmental justice and transforming cities into sustainable hubs for the future. On campus you can find her dancing with WAVe (African dance team) or teaching as a PAVE educator.

Gabriel Torrebiarte 

WH '23

Gabriel is a sophomore in Wharton originally from Guatemala City, Guatemala concentrating in Business Analytics and Finance with a minor in Political Science. He has led multiple sustainability initiatives since high school and is excited to continue his environmental advocacy as an Eco-Rep at Penn. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies, reading, and going out for a run. 

James Tonrey

SAS '23


James is a junior in the College from Staten Island, NY. He is studying Environmental Science and Russian. On campus, he is the leader of Defenders of Wildlife @ Penn and writes for The DP. In his free time, he enjoys exploring Philly, going on walks, and spending time with friends.

Julian Marquez

SAS '24

Julian is a sophomore in the college, originally from Miami, Florida, studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. He has led multiple sustainability programs since high school and is enthusiastic about continuing such ventures at Penn. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with friends and playing tennis.

Lorraina Rojas

SAS '22

Lorraina is a senior studying Earth Science and Biology from Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. She hopes to study soil conservation and restoration, especially as it relates to land use changes and agriculture in the arid southwest. In her free time, she likes cooking and going camping.

Majd Ayyad

SAS '25

Majd is a freshman from Jerusalem, Palestine with an interest in architecture and sustainable design. She enjoys baking chocolate cake, gardening, and being outdoors. Her previous sustainability initiatives included launching social media platforms to raise awareness on reducing plastic usage and paper recycling activity for kids. She is thrilled to be an Eco-Rep to continue advocating for environmental and food justice.

Nesha Subramaniam

SAS '24

Nesha is a sophomore in the college from Victorville, California. She is not sure what she wants to study yet, but she is interested in environmental sustainability and wildlife conservation. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, trying new foods, watching movies, and going on walks.

Pryce Davies

Pryce is a junior from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania studying Economics and Environmental Science. As a home gardener, he is especially passionate about agricultural sustainability, as well as environmental and energy policy. In his free time he likes to play ultimate, spend time with his chickens, and read

Ryan Lam


SEAS '22

Ryan is a junior from Orlando, Florida studying Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering with a concentration in Energy and the Environment as well as a minor in Anthropology. As a second-year Eco-Rep, he's particularly interested in engineering improved systems for clean air, clean water, and sustainable waste management. In his free time, he enjoys water sports, saving the bees, and binging cooking shows. 

Sarah Klepesky

Nursing '24

Sarah is a sophomore from Philadelphia studying Nursing.  She is looking to be involved in more sustainable initiatives while at Penn.  In her free time, you can find her playing the flute in the Penn Band or spending time with her friends on campus.

Seito Sanford

SEAS '25

Seito is a freshman studying Chemical Engineering from the Charleston metro in South Carolina. He is a big fan of green tea, big cities, and riding trains. In his free time, you will find him walking around center city, watching anime, and visiting arcades. Seito knows he has a lot to learn in his years at Penn, but he dreams of moving to Japan after graduating to find an engineering career that is heavily tied to sustainability. 

Skylar Cannon

SEAS '22

Skylar is a junior from Gainesville, Florida studying Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. In her free time, she loves to run along the Schuykill River and hangout with friends. She intends to use her engineering skills to improve environmental sustainability in the renewable energy sector. Skylar is so excited for her first year as an Eco-Rep!

Zade Dohman

SAS ‘25

Zade is a freshman from Spearfish, South Dakota intending to major in Linguistics. He is a huge fan of all things Beatles, Noam Chomsky, and barbershop music related. He’s ecstatic to become an Eco-Rep and make a greener and cleaner campus.
